The adventure kicks off as we head north to the charming town of Punta de Choros, situated in the Coquimbo region. Our journey continues with a sailing tour to Choros Island, renowned for hosting the largest population of Humboldt penguins within the National Reserve.

On Choros Island, we will also encounter various species like cormorants, pelicans, boobies, sea lions, chungungos or sea otters, and most notably, the abundant Humboldt penguins.

In this region, there's a chance to spot bottlenose dolphins, a rarity in the South Pacific, and with a bit of luck, we might even partake in whale watching from approximately November to mid-May.

Our voyage then leads us to Damas Island. On certain days, landing isn't possible, allowing us to circumnavigate and admire this magnificent island from the boat. When landing is feasible, we can stroll along its trails, relax on the sandy beaches, and capture stunning photographs. After returning to the mainland, we'll enjoy lunch at a traditional local restaurant.

Join us today for a captivating journey to Damas Island, where stunning landscapes meet rich biodiversity. Together, we'll explore the distinctive wildlife, from penguins to bird colonies, in this natural haven.

Our adventure begins early in the morning, setting off at around 6:00 a.m. from our hotel in La Serena. We will journey north into the Coquimbo region until we arrive at the charming town of Punta de Choros, the starting point of our marine exploration.

At around 9:00 a.m., we'll embark on an exhilarating trip to Chorus Island. As we sail, we'll encounter the largest gathering of Humboldt penguins within the National Reserve. Along the way, we'll also see cormorants, pelicans, boobies, sea lions, chungungos, and sea otters up close. This promises to be a one-of-a-kind experience for enthusiasts of marine and natural wildlife.

By approximately 11:30 a.m., we may witness bottlenose dolphins, a species unique to the South Pacific. Moreover, from around November to mid-May, there is a chance to spot whales, adding an extra layer to our marine adventure.

At around 1:00 p.m., we'll approach Damas Island, navigating around it by boat to admire its beauty from the sea. On days when disembarkation is allowed, we can explore its trails, unwind on the sand, and capture memorable moments with our cameras. Swimming is not allowed.

Back on land by approximately 3:30 p.m., we’ll savor a delightful lunch at a traditional local restaurant. The local cuisine offers authentic flavors that enhance our day. Subsequently, we'll visit an olive oil production plant to gain insight into the process.

With hearts brimming with wonder and vivid memories, we conclude our day at Punta de Choros. Each moment spent with wildlife and nature will become an unforgettable part of our expedition. We'll begin our return to La Serena at around 5:30 PM.
