Tour Description

Our journey begins in the city nearest to Puerto Natales.

Day 1: Arrival in Puerto Natales and Stay at Hostal Factoría

Day 2: Arrival at Torres del Paine National Park - Trek to Mirador Base Torres

Upon reaching "Laguna Amarga," you'll need to register with the park rangers (CONAF). From there, take the "Transporte Las Torres" transfer to the "Welcome Center" at the Cerro Paine Reserve. After a short 5-minute walk, you'll arrive at "Torre Central," where you can check in at your chosen accommodation, whether it's a refuge or a campsite. Once you've settled in, you can begin your trek.

Your hike today starts in the Ascencio Valley, where you'll wander through expansive forests. The final ascent involves traversing a vast field of massive rocks, leading to the world-renowned "Mirador Base Torres." At 900 meters above sea level, this viewpoint offers a stunning panorama of the three granite towers (North, Central, and South) and the vibrant turquoise glacial lake beneath them. Take time to capture photos, savor the moment, have a snack, and then retrace your steps back. Enjoy a delectable dinner at the shelter before resting.

* Distance: 22 km.

* Time: 8 to 10 hrs.

* Difficulty level: Very demanding.

* Accommodation: Shelter (single bed) or camping.

* Meals: Box lunch and dinner.

Day 3: Grey Glacier

Begin your trek today with a hearty breakfast, making sure to pack your box lunch. The trail leads you through a narrow, winding valley to Laguna Los Patos. As you proceed, you'll catch glimpses of the vast Southern Ice Fields and the icy expanse of Grey Lake. After passing a breezy viewpoint, the path descends through a mountainous forest to the Grey Refuge. A short 10-minute walk from here brings you to the Grey Glacier viewpoint, offering a close-up view of this magnificent blue ice formation. Dinner is served at the refuge between 6:00 PM and 9:00 PM.

If you're feeling adventurous, there's an optional extra trek to the famous Hanging Bridges, taking about 3 to 4 additional hours (round trip) past the refuge. This offers the best vantage point of the glacier, allowing you to see the dramatic ravines formed by rivers and waterfalls from the Olguín Range. With some luck, you might witness ice calving into the chilly waters of Lake Grey.

The trek is approximately 4 km in total and is of medium difficulty.

After a two-hour hike, you'll reach the Francés campsite and the entrance to the French Valley. You can leave your backpack at the Italiano campsite, managed by park rangers, and begin your ascent into the French Valley.
Climb over large boulders and continue through the forest to reach the Francés viewpoint, where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking views of Los Cuernos, turquoise glacial lagoons, and majestic hanging glaciers cascading down the eastern face of Paine Grande Mountain (3,050 m). If fortune favors you, you might hear the thunderous roar of the glacier and witness an avalanche. Enjoy your box lunch and some much-needed rest before descending the same trail back to Camp Italiano.

The best time for this trekking trip is usually from October to April. Summer (December–March) offers longer daylight hours and drier trails, although with strong winds. Spring and autumn offer spectacular scenery, fewer crowds, and variable weather; you can expect rain, snow, or sunshine all in the same day. Expect temperatures between 0 and 15°C (32 and 59°F), strong gusts of wind, and sudden changes typical of the Patagonian climate. Winter means limited services and greater difficulty. Always carry thermal layers, a waterproof/windproof jacket, and sun protection. Check the daily forecast and follow the instructions of CONAF (National Forestry Corporation)/park administration to ensure a safe trek.

For this hiking tour, pack a layering system: thermal base layer, fleece, waterproof/windproof jacket with membrane, and trekking pants. Energy snacks and cash in CLP for emergencies. Keep the total weight to 8–12 kg and follow Leave No Trace principles for responsible tourism.

Daily times are approximately 5-10 hours. Purchase your Torres del Paine National Park entrance ticket online and register your entry at the CONAF ranger station. There are regular buses from Puerto Natales to Laguna Amarga/Pudeto and a catamaran on Lake Pehoé, depending on the route. Cell phone service is limited; water is available at campsites and along natural waterways. Prioritize safety: stay on marked trails, check the weather forecast, and respect closures.
