Tour Description

This puma safari kicks off in the early morning, with pick-up from your Puerto Natales accommodation between 5:00 and 5:30 a.m. From there, we'll embark on a two-hour drive to reach Torres del Paine National Park, one of Patagonia's most renowned destinations.

The adventure is led by experienced guides and a puma tracker, who will thoughtfully choose the paths to take, based on recent puma sightings and regions with the highest feline activity. This adaptable plan allows you to venture along less-traveled paths, all while ensuring minimal impact on the environment. During the trek, you'll engage in tracking and observation, in search of the majestic Patagonian puma, a prominent symbol of Chilean wildlife. These creatures, although elusive, freely roam much of the park, offering a unique opportunity to connect with nature and witness unforgettable wildlife moments. The tour offers more than just puma sightings; it also provides stunning landscapes and insights into the park's ecosystems, always with a focus on responsibility and conservation. After this enriching experience with Patagonia's wildlife and scenery, we will head back to Puerto Natales, concluding with a drop-off at your accommodation.

The best time to take the excursion and increase your chances of seeing pumas is between September and April, which corresponds to spring and summer in the Southern Hemisphere. During this period, wildlife is more active and weather conditions are more favorable for hiking and outdoor activities in the Magallanes Region. However, the excursion is available year-round, and the guide adapts the experience to the season to optimize wildlife sightings.

This excursion is of moderate difficulty, involving hiking along trails and uneven terrain within a natural environment in Chilean Patagonia. No prior trekking experience is necessary, but a reasonable level of fitness is recommended for hiking for several hours. The excursion is suitable for participants aged 10 and over, provided they are capable of moderately strenuous hikes. The tour guide will adjust the pace of the group and prioritize the safety of all participants throughout the trek.

To fully enjoy the excursion, we recommend wearing comfortable clothing suitable for outdoor activities: long pants, a waterproof jacket, warm layers, hiking boots, a hat, gloves, and sunglasses. Due to Patagonia's variable weather conditions, dressing in layers is essential. We also recommend bringing sunscreen, trekking poles (optional), a camera, and a reusable water bottle. The tour team provides binoculars and everything necessary for observing local wildlife.
