Prepare yourself for an exhilarating kayaking journey into the depths of Chilean Patagonia!
The Grey Kayak on Grey Lake presents an extraordinary chance to explore, thrill, and bond with nature in a manner that only Patagonia can provide.
This kayaking adventure spans roughly 3 hours and sets off daily at 8:00 AM, 11:00 AM, and 4:30 PM, always contingent on weather and wind conditions.
Upon reaching the base camp, our skilled guide will equip us with all the necessary gear: wetsuit, waterproof jacket and boots, poogies (kayak gloves), spray skirt, and life jacket. Afterward, we'll receive a safety briefing on land to acquaint ourselves with our kayak, paddle, route, and weather conditions. Once prepared, it's time to be amazed and enjoy!
We'll carry our kayak about 20 meters to the boarding area. Grey Lake stretches almost 17 kilometers in length and 4 kilometers in width, featuring various capes, peninsulas, and inlets, primarily fed by the glacier. On this expedition, we will follow the eastern side of the ice wall, accessing different viewpoints for an unforgettable experience. From the water, we'll be immersed in a matchless landscape, encircled by Cerro Paine Grande, the Olguín Range, the glacier itself, and numerous other panoramic vistas.
Each paddle stroke is not only an invigorating physical challenge but also an opportunity to connect intimately with nature. In the initial part of the adventure, we'll paddle near massive floating icebergs, creating a surreal and magical setting before moving towards the eastern tongue of the glacier. Grey Glacier offers the chance to enjoy and marvel at the spectacular scenery, accompanied by impressive walls of giant ice.
Every moment becomes epic as we navigate in the kayak. From the unique perspective on the water, we'll have the chance to capture breathtaking photographs of the surrounding natural beauty.
If weather conditions allow on the return trip, we'll pass by the Glacier Island "Nunatak" as we head back to base camp.
We recommend wearing a long-sleeved base layer on top (the wetsuit is sleeveless) and a base layer on the bottom due to the local climate, where cold weather prevails.
When we return to land, we'll carry memories that flow like the waters of Grey Lake. This kayaking adventure will be an experience you'll cherish forever.
Don't miss this unforgettable experience!
