This icy escapade lasts about 3 hours. We'll set off by zodiac boat to the island nestled amid the glacier. Upon arrival, we'll trek for roughly an hour to access the ice. This path ascends rocky terrain and presents a medium difficulty level.
Prepare to be exhilarated as you confront the vastness of the glacier. From this vantage point, feast your eyes on sweeping views of the Andes peaks and Lake Grey, offering a visual spectacle that will linger in your memory.
Proper attire is crucial not just for comfort but for safety. Sunglasses and gloves are indispensable as we will be in constant contact with the ice. Waterproof clothing is necessary for the boat crossing to the island and in case of rain. How to get there:
From Puerto Natales, head to the Grey Lake Sailing Departure for the Grey III Catamaran. If you depart at 10:00 a.m., check-in is at 9:00 a.m., arriving at base camp by 11:00 a.m. for the first excursion. For a 1:00 p.m. departure, check-in is at 12:00 p.m., with arrival at base camp around 2:00 p.m. for the second sailing. The third sailing returns from the refuge at 5:30 p.m., accommodating those needing to return to their hotel or town.
