We will set off from our hotel today between approximately 6:00 and 6:30 a.m. to maximize our day. This thrilling journey promises to take us through some of the most stunning and diverse landscapes you'll ever encounter.
Our departure from San Pedro marks the beginning of an ascent to about 4,000 meters above sea level, where we'll arrive at the Red Stones. This fascinating geological formation features deep red rocks nestled in the heart of the high plateau. The striking contrast between the red rocks and the turquoise lake will leave you in awe. Here, we will have ample time to explore and capture photographs of this surreal landscape.
Continuing our ascent, we will reach nearly 4,200 meters above sea level, arriving at the Miscanti and Miñiques Altiplanic Lagoons. These stunning high-altitude sister lagoons are located within the Los Flamencos National Reserve. Surrounded by majestic mountains, these lagoons offer an excellent opportunity for birdwatching and capturing unique landscape photographs. This is the perfect spot to appreciate the region's natural beauty and wildlife.
Following our lagoon visits, we'll proceed to the Chaxa Lagoon, a part of the Salar de Atacama. Chaxa is a salt lagoon that draws flamingos and other aquatic birds due to its rich salt and nutrient content. Here, you will have the chance to observe these magnificent birds in their natural habitat and learn about the area's distinctive flora and fauna.
