Descripción del Tour:
Today, we will embark on an early morning departure from your hotel in San Pedro de Atacama, with the scheduled time ranging between 4:30 and 5:00 am, depending on the season.
Our journey starts with an ascent towards the Tatio Geysers, known as the highest geothermal field globally, situated at an elevation of 4,200 meters above sea level. This area boasts approximately 80 active geysers.
We'll reach the El Tatio Geysers at dawn, precisely when the columns of steam and hot water rise dramatically from the earth. During this time, you'll have the chance to explore the geysers, thermal pools, and other fascinating geothermal formations. It's a stunning spectacle to witness the hot water soaring into the air like a fumarole amidst this otherworldly landscape.
While here, savor a delicious hot breakfast as you take in the view of the steam fumaroles, which can tower up to 10 meters high.
For the adventurous, this is your moment to dive into the natural hot springs of El Tatio. It's a one-of-a-kind experience to unwind and enjoy the serene natural environment while soaking in the thermal pool, which maintains an average temperature of 36°C.
When ready, we'll commence our return journey to San Pedro de Atacama, but not before stopping at the quaint village of Machuca. This small town consists of about 20 houses, each equipped with solar panels for energy. Here, you can sample local delicacies, such as llama meat skewers or goat cheese empanadas. Take a leisurely stroll down its single street, leading to its historic church.
Following our visit to Machuca, we'll head back to the center of San Pedro, where you'll be dropped off near the municipal parking lot. From there, you can explore the town further, grab lunch, or return to your hotel independently. If you prefer, we can also drop you off directly at your hotel.
Ensure you bring suitable clothing, as mornings at the geysers can be quite chilly due to the altitude, and don't forget your camera to capture the breathtaking views and unforgettable experiences. Adhering to the safety instructions provided by your guide is crucial for a safe and respectful adventure.
This full-day tour offers a rare opportunity to witness the natural splendor of the Tatio Geysers and immerse in the local culture of Machuca Village.
