Setting out from San Pedro de Atacama at the designated time, we venture towards the Heart of the Desert. Breathing in the fresh, clean air invigorates us as we journey toward our destination, La Cascada Escondida, an exhilarating adventure that invites us to explore a hidden gem of nature.
Our trek begins over the arid terrain along the banks of the Vilama River, where the impressive Centennial Cactus stands tall. Despite being in the world's driest desert, we'll encounter abundant wild flora and birdlife along the way.
As we near the Hidden Waterfall, the landscape becomes more rugged, and early signs of its presence, such as the damp rocks and vibrant greenery, start to appear. Gradually, the waterfall unveils itself, nestled among rock formations and lush vegetation.
Upon reaching the Hidden Waterfall, its stunning beauty will captivate us. Water cascades from a height of approximately 8 meters, creating a sparkling curtain of droplets in the sunlight.
In this extraordinary spot, we'll have the opportunity to refresh ourselves with a dip in the waterfall, secluded within the desert. It's advisable to wear a swimsuit beneath your clothing, as there are no facilities for changing or restrooms available.
