Today, we set off on an exciting adventure, departing early from the hotel at the prearranged time to visit a true gem. Our first destination on this tour is truly special.
1. Pablo Neruda House Museum in Isla Negra, situated along Chile's central coastline. Isla Negra was the beloved residence of the Chilean poet and is the final resting place for both Neruda and his wife, Matilde Urrutia. As you explore this house, where Neruda spent much of his lifetime, you'll discover a space that mirrors the poet's imaginative spirit, brimming with artifacts, artworks, and collections that reflect his personality and passions. From the terrace, you can take in breathtaking sea views, and wander through gardens adorned with unique sculptures and artistic elements.
2. Our journey continues to Pomaire, where we will enjoy lunch at a local eatery, sampling traditional Chilean dishes such as empanadas and stews (not included). Known for its pottery, this town offers a chance to explore workshops and stores where artisans craft and sell a variety of items, from pots and plates to decorative pieces. A leisurely walk through the cobbled streets allows us to absorb the tranquil ambiance of Pomaire.
3. Wine Tasting. We will proceed to a specially arranged room to savor a selection of Viña Undurraga's signature wines, which often feature varieties like Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Carmenère. Experts will guide us through the tasting experience, helping us identify the distinctive characteristics of each wine.
This tour beautifully blends the appreciation of Pablo Neruda's poetry and legacy at his Isla Negra house museum with the artisanal and culinary culture of Pomaire. It presents a unique opportunity to delve into the life of the renowned Chilean poet and to experience the authenticity of local craftsmanship in a charming and culturally enriching setting.
