Embark on today’s “Adventure Between Lakes: From Puerto Octay, Lake Rupanco to Puyehue” and let the enchanting Los Lagos Region sweep you off your feet. The journey kicks off in the delightful city of Puerto Varas, as we navigate the scenic Carretera Austral, offering breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean. Our initial destination is Puerto Octay, a historic jewel adorned with German architecture and charming streets.
Setting out from Puerto Varas, we will travel along the Pan-American Highway. Heading north for 20 km, we will arrive at Frutillar, then continue on to Puerto Octay, a town nestled on the northern shore of Lake Llanquihue. Rich in German influence, it was once the primary port for agricultural exports to Osorno. In Puerto Octay, we’ll explore its quaint streets and picturesque plaza, immersing ourselves in its vibrant history and architecture.
Our adventure continues for 54 km through the rural landscape, passing by the Rupanco Hacienda. Here, the thriving agricultural and livestock activities showcase the land's fertility and abundance. The green fields and pastures offer a serene escape into the tranquility of the countryside.
