Tour Description
We will commence our journey by picking up passengers from hotels in Puerto Tranquilo, heading towards Lago General Carrera. Our route will take us 52 km west through the scenic Valle Exploradores, a trip that will last approximately 90 minutes.
Upon arrival in Valle Exploradores, we will prepare all necessary technical equipment and participate in an introductory briefing led by our expert guides, who will be with us throughout the adventure.
Our hike will take us through a lush perennial forest, where we will identify a variety of native species and spot some birds. Gradually, we will ascend the frontal moraine of the glacier until we reach a viewpoint offering a panoramic view of the glacier, Mount San Valentín, and Lake Bayo.
Continuing along the moraine, we will begin walking on ice covered with stones and sand. Upon reaching the clean ice (in about 1.5 to 2 hours, depending on the group's pace), we will pause for a snack and equip ourselves to safely walk on the white ice.
Here, the most thrilling segment of the trek begins: we will experience the sights, sounds, and sensations of the live ice as we walk upon it, peer into the ice caves, and marvel at the blue hues of its ancient pure waters. Additionally, we will learn about the glacier's journey from the Ice Field to its transformation into a river flowing towards the sea.
Once our tour concludes, we will return to Valle Exploradores to board the transfer back to Puerto Río Tranquilo.
