Today, we invite you to embark on an adventurous day that will immerse you in the natural marvel of Huerquehue National Park, nestled in the heart of Araucanía.
We will pick you up from your hotel in Pucón early in the morning at the arranged time to head 33 km east of Pucón. Upon arrival, you'll discover the breathtaking Huerquehue National Park, spanning approximately 12,500 hectares.
This park is renowned for its mountainous terrain with moderate slopes and its breathtakingly unique beauty, featuring ravines, hills, Araucaria and Lenga forests, among other natural wonders.
The park is also home to remarkable wildlife, such as Darwin's Frog, the Culpeo Fox, and the Chilean Condor found in the park's higher elevations.
With an extensive network of trails, it's a favorite destination for nature enthusiasts and trekking aficionados alike.
Among the numerous trails, you'll find: Los Lagos, which is 8.8 km and approximately 7 hours round trip; the Quinchol trail, 5 km and about 4 hours round trip; Los Huerquenes, spanning 20.7 km and requiring 2 days of trekking; the San Sebastián trail, 8 km with around 10 hours round trip; and the Ñirrico trail, a short 0.8 km and roughly 1 hour round trip.
The Huerquehue National Park predominantly lies within the Andean-Patagonian Forest Region and the Araucanía Mountain Range.
The park's largest waterways include the Renahue Blanco River and the Quinchol River. Additionally, there are over 20 lagoons, most of which cover an area of less than 7.5 hectares. Notable ones include Lago Toro (27.5 hectares) and Verde (32.5 hectares), along with Lago Chica, Los Patos, Huerquehue, Escondida, Seca, Clara, Angelina, Los Cóndores, among others.
